Gerald V. Rausch, 84, formerly of Menasha, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Snug Harbor, Harbor Haven, in Fond du Lac. Jerry was born February 13, 1927, in Menasha, the son of Herbert and Julia (Weber) Rausch. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard during high school and was a veteran of World War II. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Hansen on May 10, 1947, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha. She preceded him in death in March of 2003. Prior to his retirement, Jerry was employed with Glatfelter Paper Company in Neenah. Jerry was a former member of the American Legion Post 152. He loved working in his yard, gardening, hunting and traveling, especially trips to Europe and Hawaii.
Survivors include his children: Patrick (Mary) Rausch, Appleton, Susan (Roger) Klenke, Menasha, Jeannie Zimmer, Menasha, and Jerry (Karen) Rausch, Freedom; son-in-law, Leo Checkai, Menasha; his grandchildren: Ben (Rachel) Rausch, Pam (Rick) Tesch, Amy (Jeremy) Barthels, Dennis (Jessica) Schwab, Christopher (Jessica) Klenke, Angela (Brent) Heule, Michael Rausch, Jessica (Shawn) Street; Brennan, Tessa, and Haley Rausch; step-grandchildren: Ryan and Jake Ziebel; his great-grandchildren: Ava, Hudson, Ricky, Bobbi Jo, Shaylee, Chayce, Libby, Sophie, Cadyn, Cecelia, Eve, Donovan, Jaden and Braxton; step great-grandchildren: Crosby and Tanner; and a sister-in-law, Joan Rausch, Neenah. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and wife, a daughter, Cheryl Checkai, a granddaughter, Heather, an infant daughter, Julie, and his brother, Richard "Jimmy".
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 18, 2011, 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider presiding. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday until the hour of mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jerry’s honor are being established for the American Cancer Society, 3311 Packerland Dr., DePere, 54115. The family wishes to express their thanks to the wonderful staff at Snug Harbor for their excellent and diligent care given to Jerry.
