Marie Evelyn Della Schmidt, age 89, of Neenah, and a long-time Larsen/Winchester resident, passed away on Friday, March 23, 2012 at Theda Clark Medical Center. She was born on October 19, 1922 in the Town of Clayton, daughter of the late John and Anna (Luebke) Bondow. She married Joseph H. Schmidt on November 11, 1944 in the town of Clayton. He preceded her in death on October 14, 2008. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah. She worked in the cafeteria at Kimberly Clark for many years until her retirement. Marie was a loving, nurturing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved dancing, especially square dancing with her husband and friends, gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, and baking. Marie loved entertaining her family, especially during the Christmas season. Above all, she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sense of humor, compassion, and friendship will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Bonnie (Wayne Vicker) Schmidt, Palo Alto, CA, Sandy (Dennis) Korn, Winneconne, Gary (Sue) Schmidt, Neenah, Debbie (Don) Schmid, Larsen; grandchildren: Angela, Corrie, Gretchen, Jared, Lindsay, Matthew; eight great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Schmidt, Niellsville; sisters-in-law: Bernice Bondow, Neenah, Mary Schmidt, New London, Elva Warnke, Fremont; a special nephew Roger Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, and her beloved husband Joe, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Wilbur (Eunice) and Earl Bondow; sisters: Erna (Clarence) Strey and Pearl (Glen) Krueger; several brothers and sisters-in-law.
The Christian Funeral for Marie will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (407 Oak Street, Neenah) with Rev. Tony L. McKenzie officiating. Friends will be received after the funeral service. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Clayton Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dorothy Bonnin for her friendship and all of her help with mom, as well as the staffs of Island Shores, ThedaCare at Home Hospice, and the staff on Theda Clarkâs fifth floor for all of their care, compassion, and concern.
