Bill grew up with family and friends on Fredrick St. in Menasha. He attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1963 where he was actively involved in sports. He even had a baseball try-out with the Milwaukee Braves in 1962.

In 1997 they moved to Wisconsin to be closer to his family.

Bill worked at Alta Resources for years and then worked at West Business and part-time at Wal-Mart. He suffered a massive stroke on Dec. 15, 2009, and was able to go back to work in 2011 part-time at Wal-Mart as a greeter, which he loved.

Bill was loved by all his family and friends. Up till the time of his stroke he was an avid golfer, was an umpire for baseball and softball in Fort Madison, IA, and he also had his pilot’s license. Survivors include his wife, Claudia; five children: Stanna (Curt) Olinger, Matthew (Michelle) Starr, Billie Jo “BJ” (Travis) Beck Stephen Sherman, Stephanie (Ronnie) Durand; 13 grandchildren: Levi, Lexi, Linzi and Lane Olinger, Jaxon and Oliver Starr, Raegan and Landon Beck, Kayla Sherman, Julia and Landon Smith, Haleigh Durand, and Kyler Smith; his brothers and sisters: Kay (Wally) Vetter, Sue Peat, Gail (Larry) Howard, John (Judy) Morgan; and a sister-in-law, Darlene Morgan.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Faith Community Church, N 2541 County Hwy K, Waupaca, with The Rev. Gary Strike officiating.
