John Michael Barnes, age 68, passed away unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth Hospital early Sunday, May 6, 2012. He was born September 20, 1943 to the late John and Mary-Ruth (Edwards) Barnes in Kingston, PA. On September 8, 1984, he married Ada Hall, MD.
Michael will be remembered as a great husband and father with a great sense of humor who was a lover of animals and birds. In 1965, he graduated from Hobart College with a degree in History. He then began his own construction company here in Neenah. After the birth of his two daughters, he retired and became a stay-at-home Dad. He enjoyed volunteering at local soup kitchens and the Salvation Army, his daughters’ schools and for political campaigns.
Michael will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 28 years, Ada Hall, MD; his two daughters: Mel and Annie; and his three sisters: Vivian, Caroline, and Margaret. He was preceded in death by his sister, Judy.
A memorial service for Michael will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 12, 2012 at St. Thomas Church in Menasha, Fr. Ralph Osborne officiating. Visitation will be at church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
