James R. Garvin, age 30, of Neenah, Wisconsin, formerly of Davenport, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 14, 2012 at his home. He was born on September 16, 1981 in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Richard Garvin and Tracy Carlson. After high school, James proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in Iraq. James suffered serious injuries while fighting in Iraq, recovered and rejoined his Army brothers and sisters to complete his tour of duty. He was most recently employed by Lapham-Hickey in Oshkosh as a Crane Operator. James will be remembered as a family man and a wonderful father. He loved fixing cars, fishing, reading, and had an affinity for history.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jachelle; his daughter, Isabella; his step-daughter, Kali Sherman; his parents: Richard Garvin, Oshkosh and Tracy Williams, Riverside, IA; grandparents: Jerry and Janet Chellos, Davenport, IA; siblings: Jesse Garvin, Davenport, IA, Sean Garvin, Coralville, IA, Marissa Williams, Davenport, IA, Kelly Garvin, Coralville, IA, Ben Williams, Eldridge, IA; parents-in-law, Robert Laurin, Iron Mountain, MI, Judith Romera, Las Vegas, NV. He is further survived by all of his brothers and sisters in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Marvin Carlson and James Garvin; grandmother, Phyllis Littleton; uncles: Jeff and Greg Carlson, Pete Garvin.
The Funeral Service for James will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Menasha’s Westgor Funeral Home. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin, where full Military Honors will be performed.
In Iowa, a Memorial Gathering for James will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Vanderveer Park in Davenport.
