Michael J. “Gamehog” O’Brien, age 67 of Neenah, passed away unexpectedly early Friday, May 25, 2012. He was born April 3, 1945 to Richard and Helen (Conway) O’Brien in Neenah. In 1968, he married Carol Tock.
Mike was a Menasha High School graduate and an Army Vietnam Veteran. He was also a supervisor at SCA Tissue, having retired in 2000. He will always be remembered as “Gamehog” due to his amazing talent as a hunter and fisher. He enjoyed carving decoys and making antler-lamps, and spending time at his Poygan cottage. His lengthy phone calls will be missed by all.
Mike is survived by his wife, Carol; children: Jeffrey (Cindy) O’Brien; Michele “Shelly” (Mark) Kofnetka; grandchildren: Courtney and Brittney O’Brien; Max Kofnetka; and his brother, Daniel (Robin) O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service for Mike will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Congregational United Church of Christ, Neenah/Menasha, Rev. Lynne Spencer-Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service. Inurnment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
