The Story of Westgor Funeral Homes

A Tradition of Sensitive Service

Our Philosophy

"A Tradition of Sensitive Service"

It is more than just a philosophy — it reflects our unwavering commitment to compassion, respect, and personal care in every interaction. At Westgor Funeral Homes, we understand the deep emotional weight families carry during times of loss, and we strive to offer support that is both thoughtful and dignified. Our team is dedicated to honoring each life with meaningful services tailored to individual wishes, creating a space where memories are cherished and healing can begin.

Our History

At Westgor Funeral Homes, this guiding motto is the cornerstone of our business philosophy. Since our founding in 1941 by John and Alberta Westgor in Neenah, we have remained a continuous, family-operated funeral home—proudly serving families with compassion, dignity, and respect for nearly 85 years.

In 1973, John’s son, Ted Westgor, joined the firm as a licensed funeral director. Upon John's retirement, Ted and his wife, Kathryn, purchased the Neenah funeral home and continued the family tradition of sensitive service.

In 1994, the Neenah facility was rebuilt to offer a modern, fully updated, and completely handicap-accessible building. Recognizing a need in the Menasha area for a family-owned alternative to corporately operated funeral homes, the Westgors established their Menasha (Fox Crossing) location in 1998.

Sara Westgor and Robert Karrmann joined the firm in 1999 and 2003, respectively, eventually becoming partners. In 2009, they purchased the business upon Ted’s retirement. In December 2023, Bob became the sole owner of Westgor Funeral Homes following Sara’s retirement. The year 2024 ushered in a major remodeling project, giving our facilities a bright, refreshed interior while preserving the warm, welcoming atmosphere that families have come to trust.

Community Involvement

Westgor Funeral Homes is proud to be a member of several professional and community organizations, including:

· National Funeral Directors Association

· Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association

· Fox River Valley Funeral Directors Association

· Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce

The Westgor legacy of community involvement continues under the dedicated leadership of Bob Karrmann. A Paul Harris Fellow and active member of Neenah Rotary, Bob has devoted countless hours to serving the underserved, mentoring youth, fundraising, and beautifying the city. He is also a Board Member of the Wisconsin Funeral Directors Association, and past board member of the YMCA.

Bob’s commitment to comfort and care is further exemplified by his certified therapy dogs, who have provided emotional support and companionship to families at the funeral homes, as well as to patients and students in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and college dorms. Today, our current therapy dog, Harper, follows in the pawprints of her beloved predecessors—Rosie, Lily, and Layla (may they rest in peace).

Bob also encourages volunteerism among the Westgor team, fostering a spirit of service that continues to define our work. In 2023, this tradition deepened when Bob’s daughter, Keira, joined the firm—keeping Westgor Funeral Homes very much a family business.

Our team looks forward to continuing to serve the communities of Neenah, Menasha, Fox Crossing, and the surrounding areas with care, compassion, and dedication for generations to come.

Thank you for trusting our family to serve your family.
