RITA WEINMANN
February 27, 1942 - October 25, 2017
Obituary
Rita Eileen Weinmann, age 75, of Neenah died peacefully on Wednesday, October 25 and returned home to her Heavenly Father. Her devotion to God and her family brought her peace and comfort as she struggled with a lengthy illness.
Rita was one of eight children born to the late Hugh and Mary Shaw in Chippewa Falls, WI. She married her high school sweetheart, Don, and moved with him to Neenah, WI in 1963 where they started and raised their family. Rita was tirelessly devoted to her children and grandchildren! Her days were spent making treats, cooking meals for others, writing notes, sending care packages, calling loved ones, volunteering at Wilson school and Father Carr's and attending her grandchildrens' various activities.
Rita was genuinely interested in every person she met and established family type relationships wherever she went. She lived each day to its fullest finding joy in the details of life that go unnoticed or unappreciated by most everyone else. Rita was not burdened by what she wanted in life, but by what she could give to someone else.
Rita was as passionate about her family and God as she was about living in the moment. Her joy came from conversations with friends and family as well as anyone she met. Rita had a unique and special way of getting to know people in a very short amount of time. She remembered your name as well as the names of your family members and friends and quite likely each one of their birthdays.
In addition to giving her time, Rita took great delight in giving gifts to others. You couldn't leave her house without a bag, a box, or a Tupperware container full of something. She was continuously buying and sending cards and gifts to everyone. If she wasn't sending something, she was making a plan to send something. Giving to the very end, Rita made sure there were donuts for the caring staff at Theda Clark and candy for the loving staff at Peabody Manor. Her final gift was the gift of her organs which will benefit countless others.
Rita is survived by her husband, Don, her children Chris (Barry) Hall, Jim Weinmann (Jess Miller), Cathy (Michael) Johnson, her four grandchildren: Anna, Jen, Matthew, and David and five siblings: Rosemary, Clare, Beverly, Mark, and Mike as well as countless nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father (Hugh and Mary Shaw), and sisters Carol and Judy.
The Funeral Mass for Rita will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish (900 Geiger St., Neenah) with Father Larry Seidl officiating. Friends will be received at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 29 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., and again on Monday directly at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Rita will be laid to rest in St. Margaret Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's name may be given to Father Carr's Place 2 Be.
