Obituary
Evelyn Beatrice (Last) Koepsel, age 92, departed this earthly life and entered her eternal home on Sunday, November 21, 2010, after a brief illness. Evelyn was born on January 5, 1918, the third child of Fred and Beatrice (Holderman) Last. Evelyn was raised and educated in Appleton, Wisconsin, graduating from Appleton High School (class of 1935). Evelyn worked after high school as a waitress. During WWII she worked at the Wisconsin Wire works, and later she worked as a clerk at the SS Kresge Company in Neenah. She served as a church secretary for the First Presbyterian Church in Neenah from 1966 until her retirement in 1980. Evelyn was united in marriage to Herman Pete Koepsel on January 11, 1943 at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. They shared over 49 happy years together until Petes death on May 19, 1992. In 1946, following Petes military service, they moved to Neenah, Wisconsin, where they joined the First Presbyterian Church in 1948. Evelyn was involved as a church school teacher and member of the choir for many years. She also served as a Deacon and volunteered in the churchs ESL program. Evelyn was a member of the Womens Association and participated in the Monday afternoon textbook Bible study. As a member of the YMCA Senior Friends, she enjoyed singing with the Y Nots chorus. Evelyn also volunteered with the Neenah/Menasha VNA Hospice program. She enjoyed traveling with Pete to visit friends and relatives. She also enjoyed spending winters in Florida for several years with her husband and later with her special friend, Patricia Murray. Evelyn enjoyed her family and especially enjoyed being a proud fan at her grandchildrens sporting events. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed following the Neenah Rockets and UW Madison Badgers football and basketball programs. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting and craftwork. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, especially Sheepshead. Evelyn enjoyed all types of music. Evelyn is survived by three loving daughters: Kristine (Lynn) Peterson, Littleton, Colorado; Diane Evans, Menasha; and Mary (Thomas) Cook, Oshkosh. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Joel Peterson and Tyson Peterson, Littleton, Colorado; Jon Evans, Neenah; David Evans (Amy Jacobs), Menasha; Debra Evans, Milwaukee; Matthew (Sarah) Cook, Janesville; and Aaron Cook, Milwaukee. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Jaidin Evans, Menasha; sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Pete, one son, Robert, two brothers, Fred and Robert and one sister, Ruby. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 27th at 1PM at First Presbyterian Church, 200 Church Street, Neenah, Wisconsin. Private inurnment service will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church, the Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice.
