Mr. Long was a fantastic teacher an motivator. I enjoyed my years in the Student Council an the many trips to Green Lake council camps with him as our chaperone/mentor. A lot of my success can be linked to his belief in me. Thanks for believing in me an all your students.

Mr. Long suspended me during my senior year at Neenah High. I was doing the announcements over the PA in homeroom. The Milwaukee Bucks were having a great year so I always announced their score from the night before. Mr. Long told me that had nothing to do with NHS and said he would suspend me if I continued. Well, I continued. He suspended me for a week which seemed like a month! Best and fairest principal I ever had ; a great educator and role model.

My condolences to the family. I knew "Mr. Long" as my Principal back at Shattuck High (1975-1976) I always knew him as being very fair. And I'll never forget the plaid suit that he occasionally wore! I then reconnected with "Al" last year at the Neenah Club. We talked, joked and had a laugh about that suit!

Our prayers to the Long family and friends for God's comfort, strength, and grace. Mr. Long was my principal at Neenah (Shattuck) High School and also a member of our church (Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Neenah). I recall, and more fully appreciate now, Mr. Long's leadership style and much-needed guidance regarding his students. He had a very calm, no-nonsense demeanor and was exceedingly fair and even-handed in how he dealt with students; especially those that needed discipline. Mr. Long was very active in giving back to the community of Neenah in several volunteer and civic leadership capacities. He was an avid supporter of NHS sports teams and activities. Thank you, Mr. Long, for being a great principal and leader. You will be missed by many. God speed.-Jeffrey Jordan, NHS Class of 1968
