Obituary

Barbara J. Funk was born on January 13, 1936, and her golden heart stopped beating on Friday, September 22, 2023, at the age of 87. She married Robert Pete Funk on January 3, 1959, and they were blessed with five children. Together they owned Hank's Tavern for twenty-five years. Barb loved cooking, baking, listening to Elvis Presley, bird watching, and enjoying food from the bakery at Manderfield's. She had a deep faith in God and was a longtime member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Menasha. Barb treasured the times spent with family, especially when she was with her grandchildren. She was a kindhearted person who never had a bad thing to say. She loved life and those that were close to her.

Barb is survived by her children Tami (Joe) Pawlowski, Todd (Amy) Funk, Theresa (Jerry) Whitney, and Patti (Jeremy) Pilarski; grandchildren Ellie, Roy, Lee, Lexee, Shelby, Kyra, Amanda, Thomas, Jenna, Michael, Madisen; daughter-in-law Michele Funk, seven great-grandchildren, many other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Pete Funk, son Peter Jay Funk, Aunt Lois, along with her siblings Lowell, Curtis, Lillian, Betty, Donna, and Sharon.

The memorial service for Barb will be held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home, 1140 Appleton Road. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Cemetery in Menasha.

Barb you will be so deeply missed. I am so grateful I was able to be part of your life and that you allowed me too. Your laugh and smile is already missed so much. You were a truly amazing, sweet and kind lady. I will never forget you.

I remember visiting the aunts and uncles and all the cousins in Neenah/Menasha when we were young.  Good memories.  Aunt Barb was always nice to us.  I remember going to the bar once as well (or I remember the stories about it).  Send love and prayers.  Very sorry we cannot be there.

I send my condolences to all of Barb’s loved ones. We loved traveling down to Funk’s and Braun’s  when our children were little. Barb and sister Betty were welcoming. Hard to believe all 7 siblings have passed including my husband. The last 5 in 2 years. Now all spouses are gone too, except for me. Hold onto Jesus, family and friends. I’m so thankful they all loved Jesus.  Be sure and pass on the stories to the next generations. Gentle hugs  Barb
