CAROL SWEET

Carol Mae Sweet, 95, passed away on September 7, 2024, at Touchmark in Appleton. Carol was born December 18, 1928, in Neenah, WI to Harold and Hazel Smith.

She was a graduate of Menasha High School who attended the University of Arizona in Tucson.  

Carol worked at Kimberly Clark for several years before marrying R. Duane Sweet on July 18, 1953.

Playing bridge was an important part of Carol's social life.  One of her bridge clubs survived for over 50 years.  Other favorite activities included tap dancing, line dancing, reading, knitting, and birdwatching.  

Some of Carol's fondest memories were connected to spending time with family and friends at the cottage on Lake Winnebago.  Carol also enjoyed going to Green Lake and Door County for annual reunions with her beloved cousins.  

Carol is survived by her sons: Randy (Cindy) Sweet, Fitchburg, WI, and Tim (Cindi) Sweet, Appleton, WI; four grandchildren: Justin (Chris) Sweet, Elisa Sweet, Tansy (Brian) Lederhaus, and Camden (Danielle) Sweet; four great grandchildren: Avery, Archer, Julia, and Jax.

She was preceded in death by her husband Duane, parents Harold and Hazel, brother Dick, special cousin Donelle, and daughter-in-law Julie.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thankfulness for the care Carol received at Touchmark and the attentiveness and compassion she received from Moments Hospice.

A celebration of life for Carol will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 13, 2024, at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 1511 Nicolet Blvd. in Neenah, with Pastor Rob Van Ess officiating.  Visitation will begin at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.

A memorial in Carol's name for the Congregational United Church of Christ in Neenah has been established.
