ERIC LUDWIG

ERIC LUDWIG

July 01, 1986 - September 28, 2023

Obituary

Eric J. Ludwig "Coach", age 37, sadly lost his battle to the disease of addiction. God knew he put up a heck of a fight throughout the years and decided he'd had enough. On September 28, 2023, he called another angel home.

Eric was born July 1, 1986 in Neenah, WI to proud parents Joseph and Lois (Nackers) Ludwig.

He graduated from Neenah High School in 2004. He held a few different occupations, but his favorite was working in masonry. He was a hard worker and loved keeping busy.

When he was younger he enjoyed just being outside riding bikes with friends, BMX racing, snowmobiling, jet-skiing and any sport/activity on the water.

He loved the outdoors, especially cruising around on his Grom. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his children.

Eric is survived by his mother Lois Ludwig; his children: Makenzie, Kianna, and Mason Ludwig; Marcus and Ayden Crain; siblings: Tami (Landon) Willard, Teri Ludwig, Jason Ludwig; nieces: Madalyn Willard, Brooklynn Ludwig; nephew Trent Willard; Aunts and Uncles: Lisa and David Rupiper, Dale Nackers, Jim and Joan Nackers, Roy and Ann Nackers, Mark and Pat Nackers, Karen Jackels, Vicky Bayer, and numerous cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph D. Ludwig, maternal grandparents Victor and Loretta Nackers, and uncles: Michael Nackers, Daniel Nackers, William Jackels and Dennis Bayer.

As a teen Eric started dating Gabrielle Crain. A few years later, along with her children Marcus and Ayden Crain, grew their family adding Makenzie Rose "Kenzie bear", Kianna Grace "Ki-ki", and Mason Joseph Wesley "May-may" Ludwig. Eric and Gabby remained good friends throughout the past difficult few years. He absolutely loved all of his kids and they are his biggest and proudest accomplishment.

He had many good friends whom he would have done just about anything for. He loved hard and was equally loved hard back.

Addiction doesn't care. It's a relentless disease that unfortunately, too many battle with and takes too many lives. If you or someone you know struggles with addiction, resources are available. SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and mental health services) hotline: 1-800-662-4357, WI Addiction Recovery helpline: 211.

Eric, we will miss your infectious personality, laugh and smile. You were very loved by many. See you on the other side.

Visitation will be held at Neenah's Westgor funeral home on Wednesday October 4th, 2023 from 5-7pm with service to follow.

Additionally, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 7th at Tami's residence 716 S. Bluemound Drive, Appleton from 3pm-?

I didn't know Eric very well, but did go to high school with him. I lost my brother Cory Miller to addiction and know all to well, the immense pain that comes from losing someone to heroin. My heart goes out to all of Eric's family and friends. Know that there is no certain way you have to grieve. Everyone handles it differently and everyone should respect that. To the siblings, I especially feel for you and my heart goes out to you 100x over. That bond we have with our brothers and sisters is just different and I feel your pain. Sending love, hugs, and strength to you all at this time.
