FREDRIC MEYER
April 22, 1935 - March 12, 2023
Obituary
Fred Meyer, age 87, passed away peacefully at his home while surrounded by family on Sunday, March 12, 2023. He was born on April 22, 1935, to the late George and Geraldine Meyer in Milwaukee, WI. He married the love of his life, Diana, on June 25, 1973, in Milwaukee. Fred and his bride, as he affectionately called Diana, were blessed with nearly 50 years of marriage and a large, loving family. He worked for many years in the hospitality industry including long-term positions with Doug's Supper Club in Neenah and the Elk's Lodge #676 in Menasha from where he retired. Since much of his work was spent tending bar, he liked to refer to himself as a “Beverage Host” and took great pride in the relationships he built with his customers. Fred was a very social person who enjoyed a good joke and making people laugh. He enjoyed taking long drives and worked as a courier in his retirement. Fred even had a knack for finding the scenic route that turned even short trips into long drives that would always irritate his kids. He was an expert cribbage player and also enjoyed shooting pool, completing puzzles, working on model trains with his grandkids, playing cards with Diana, and sitting with her on their porch swing enjoying a warm summer day. Fred had a passion for Wisconsin sports and always enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers. He was loved dearly by his family and will be forever missed.
Fred is survived by his wife Diana; children Dan Michalski, Mark (Shelly) Johnson, Carol (Randy) Endries, Jody (Todd) Schwartzkopf, and Patric (Ted) Meyer; grandchildren Ashley (Josh), Deanna (Aron), Mackenzie, Duke, Dean, Jenny, Cody (Kyrstin), Carson, Tawny (Scott), and Tia; along with 6 great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lee, sister Lois, nephew Mark, and niece Jean.
Fred was proud of his Irish heritage so the ability to celebrate his life on St. Patrick's Day is especially meaningful. If you are willing, the family encourages everyone attending to wear green to help celebrate Fred's Irish roots.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the team from ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the incredible care and support they provided for Fred and the entire family.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
