JEANETTE BRYAN

August 07, 1942 - July 17, 2024

Obituary

Jeanette Bryan passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 17, 2024 in her room at the memory care of Aspire Senior Living. Jeanette was born in Neenah, WI to Raymond and Edna Kaun on August 7, 1942.  She spent her childhood living on the family run apple orchard with her parents and five siblings.  She graduated from Neenah High School in 1960 and then attended and graduated from the Milwaukee Hospital School of Nursing in 1963.  While in Milwaukee she met George Anderson, whom she married in 1964.  They settled in Neenah.  Jeanette and George's first child died shortly after birth; two years later their daughter was born.  Unfortunately their marriage ended in divorce in 1972.  Jeanette later married James Bryan in 1990 and they remained together until his death in 2022.

Jeanette's career as a nurse began working in pediatrics at Theda Clark.  She then switched to working in geriatrics.  She worked at Oakridge Gardens Nursing Home, for the Neenah VNA hospice program, and then in collaboration with the Menasha Health Department doing health screenings at the senior center and in local businesses through Prevention Program grants.  Before retiring, she worked briefly in home health care.

Jeanette was an active member of Calvary Bible Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and helping with the sermon tape and later the sermon CD program.  Around 2009 a number of health issues started limiting her activities, and she was later diagnosed with generalized dementia.  In 2016 Jeanette and her husband James moved into Emerald Valley memory care assisted living.  In 2019 when that assisted living closed, Jeanette and Jim moved to the memory care of Aspire Senior Living in Kimberly.  They were very glad to have a place able to provide care for both of them together.  Her family wishes to express their gratitude for the care provided by Aspire's memory care staff and Compassus Hospice.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Kaun, sisters Annette Bachmann and Virginia Meyer, son Thomas Anderson, nephew Alan Minks, and husband James Bryan.  She is survived by her brother Fred Kaun, sister Margaret Minks, daughter Beth Schael, ex-husband George Anderson, step-son Michael Bryan and his son Jonathan, step-son Stephen Bryan and his children Noah, Chiara, Carina, and Caitlyn.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their descendants.

A memorial service will be held in the fellowship hall at Calvary Bible Church at 1450 Oakridge Rd. in Neenah on Wed. 8/7/2024.  Please park in the west lot and enter below the large welcome sign. The visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m.  The service will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by a luncheon at 1:00 p.m.  Please RSVP to Beth Schael if you plan to attend, for meal planning purposes.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the Agape fund of Calvary Bible Church or a reputable charity of your choosing.
