JOYCE GEIGER

March 14, 1926 - July 16, 2024

Obituary

Mrs. Joyce Arlene (Zeuske) Geiger, age 98, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. She was born on March 14, 1926, in Clintonville; daughter of the late Max and Ethel (Hanson) Zeuske. Joyce graduated from Clintonville High School in 1944 and went to work before getting married. She told many stories of her time working at Great Lakes Navel Base, processing the return of sailors at the end of WWII.

On September 28, 1946, in Embarrass, WI, Joyce married her high school sweetheart, Russell Geiger. They settled in Neenah, WI where Russell practiced Chiropractic while Joyce took wonderful care of her four children. She especially enjoyed the Sunday Zeuske gatherings at her parents' farm in Clintonville. After her children were older, she also worked at Banta's in Menasha for 10 years. Joyce was loved by everyone! All of her family including nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors thought highly of Joyce. She would listen and be supportive with not a negative word to say. We asked the grandchildren to describe in one word their grandmother. Responses included a caring and selfless woman who provided each of them with strong hearted support in their life's journeys. She was also described as tenderhearted, gentle, and beautiful. She was kind and she unconditionally loved each of her grandchildren with her whole heart. She also was a fabulous cookie and coffeecake baker! To some she was known as the “cookie grandma”. As a woman of faith, she prayed each night for all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed so much by her children: Steve Geiger, Neenah, WI,  Stuart Geiger, Amherst, WI, Scott (Renee) Geiger, Neenah, WI and Stephanie (Philip) Lambert, Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren: Julie Geiger, Las Vegas, NV, Jason Geiger, Verona, WI, Jana (Eric) Esden, Clermont, FL, Leah (Jared) Shelerud, Monticello, WI , Hannah (Garrett) Cope, Flagler Beach, FL, Sarah Lambert, Orlando, FL, Eric Lambert, Vero Beach, FL; great-grandchildren: Harley and Cash Geiger, Callie, Micah, and Elena Esden, Kensington and Leif Shelerud, Clara and Beckett Cope; Sisters-in-law: Virginia Schneider and Mae Geiger; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Edward and Elsie (Horn) Geiger; brothers: Dennis (Dorothy) Zeuske, Eugene (Vi) Zeuske, Duane (Mabel) Zeuske, and Don (Judy) Zeuske; brothers-in-law: Lawrence Geiger and Frank Schneider.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 27th, at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 200 Church St., Neenah, with Rev. Kim Johnson officiating. There will be a visitation immediately after the service along with a lunch. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in Joyce's name.
