Obituary

Judd P. Vollmer, was born March 20, 1940, Hilbert, WI, to Sylwester and Helen (Bernclau) Vollmer. He was born to Eternal Life on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Judd grew up in Hilbert, working at setting pins at the local bowling alley, and working at local gas stations pumping gas and washing cars. Judd graduated from Hilbert High School, class of 1959. He worked for Van Haren Imp. Until he enlisted in the US Air Force for three years, stationed in Bramerhaven, Germany. When he returned to civilian life he went to work for George Banta Publishing Co for thirty eight years.

Judd married Susan J. Popp on November 14, 1964, in a double wedding ceremony with Patricia Popp and Gerald Moehn. Judd and Susan raised four children that they are very proud of: Joy C. (Todd) Louthain, Jeffery J. (Rebecca) Vollmer, Jill M. Vollmer and Jamie A. Vollmer. He was a great Dad, promoting respect, loyalty, a good work ethic, and love of family. He went on many camping trips for vacations, especially to Pineaire Campgrounds in Eagle River, Hidden Campgrounds, Waupaca, and Herman's Landing at Hayward.

Judd went on a number of cruises with Susan and close friends to Alaska, Caribbean and Hawaii. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, Walleye and Musky fishing, and lots of family picnics.  

Judd is survived by his wife, Susan; his children; grandchildren: Kasey Louthain, Jacob Louthain, Karlee Louthain, Jesse Lynn (Travis) Hietpas, Loshua Vollmer, Torie Vollmer; great-grandchildren: Chance Vollmer and Grayson Vollmer; a brother, James Vollmer. He is further survived by Susan's family: Sisters-in-law: Patricia (Gerald) Moehn, Kathleen (Gerald) Theel, Nancy Lee Robers, Maxine Feld, Rachel (Paul) Anciaux; brothers-in-law: Fredrick (Rose) Popp, Peter (Susan) Popp, Greg (Shirley) Popp; and many nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention.

Judd was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; two brothers: Joseph (Margaret and Donna) Vollmer, Jon (Donna) Vollmer; two sisters: Kay (Ronald) Rankin, Genrose Vollmer; an infant great-grandson, Carson Vollmer; nephews: Rick Rankin, Timothy and Terry Vollmer; and his father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Catherine Popp.

The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 8, 2023, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 320 Nicolet Blvd, Menasha, with Fr. Judah Pigon officiating. The visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home, and again at the church on Friday from 10:00am until the hour of Mass. Military Honors with the Neenah/Menasha Veterans Honor guard will follow.
