Obituary

Larry G. Howard, age 84, died peacefully of natural causes on September 9, 2023. Born June 23, 1939, in Rochester, MN, Larry was the son of Morgan and Helen Howard. Larry was raised in Duluth, MN, and upon high school graduation enlisted in the United States Navy, getting his basic training with Company 638 at Great Lakes Naval Facilities in Illinois in 1956. After basic training, Larry was stationed in Norfolk, VA for two years and San Francisco, CA for two years before being honorably discharged in 1960. Larry served his country with dignity and took great pride in his service role.

After a few jobs in the Milwaukee area, Larry moved north to Appleton and began employment with Eagle Supply and Plastics as the inside National Sales Manager, overseeing the sales, service, and distribution functions for industrial and commercial customers. He retired in the early 2000s and continued to stay active by volunteering with St. Joseph's Food Patry for many years.

Larry met Gail Morgan in the late 1970s and in a joint ceremony with Gail's sister Kay and her husband Wally, they married on October 14, 1983. Together, they enjoyed many years on their property in Wild Rose. Campfires, cribbage, and activities at the lodge and with neighbors were the usual rituals.

Larry was a complex man, as his interests spanned fine arts such as classical music, theater, and opera, to Zamfir and his pan flute and professional and collegiate sports, golf, and most types of card games.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gail; brother, Tom; and in-laws, Sue Peat, Bill Starr, and Todd Morgan. Survivors include his daughters: Lauren Jansen and her six children; and Elizabeth “Liza” Sipin and her daughter, Laura Sipin; his in-laws: Kay (the late Wally) Vetter; John (Judy) Morgan; Dorothy (the late Tom) Howard; and niece, Beth (Jim) Reinert and their kids and grandkids; along with Kristin and Andy Sewall and their kids; Grady Olson; Joel Morgan; plus many more nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Larry will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. until the hour of service.

The family would like to deeply thank Carey Byrne and Randy, and the staff at Wayside Parkview Estates and Unity Hospice, along with the doctors and nurses who treated Larry over the years.
