Lola Ruge

Lola Louise Marquardt slipped quietly into the loving arms of her Savior on July 24th, 2024. She was born on January 7th, 1929 in Oshkosh, WI, the youngest of Melda and Oscar Marquardt's four children. 

Lola and Martin Ruge were married July 1st, 1956 and they happily celebrated 68 years of marriage together. In the course of her life, Lola was an airline stewardess, a registered nurse, a wife, a mother to four boys, a grandmother to eight and a great-grandmother to three.

Lola is survived by her husband, Martin Ruge; sons Mark (Mary), Paul (Margaret), Philip (Lori Ruge-Jones) and Andrew (Lisa MacVittie); grandchildren Timothy (Kate), Max (Elaine), Mia, Katherine, Luisa, Lucas (Alexis), Jacob and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Cole, Abigail and Delphina; sister-in-law Peggy (Bob Justus) Unger, many nieces, nephews and special friend Angela Dumitrescu. Lola was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and their spouses (Keith and Ginny Marquardt, Elaine and Ed Kolterjahn, Irene and Bill Wagner) and her sister-in-law Wanda Ruge.

Funeral services will be held at First English Lutheran Church, 1013 Minnesota St., Oshkosh, on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception. 

Memorials may be sent to grandson Nick's We See You Foundation (weseeyoufoundation.org) or First English Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.

Our deepest sympathy to you and to your whole family, Pastor Ruge. Tim and I and our young children, Jon and Kari were members of your Menomonie, MI congregation. I lovingly remember you with your great memory for names and outgoing personality ( of an old song and dance man). I remember Lola for her kindness and her love ❤️ of ruby red glassware.

My sympathy to Pastor Ruge, and the entire Ruge family. Lola was a sweet lady. and every time I would see her I fondly remember her career with Capitol Airlines. She had to be one very nice stewardess. I have fond memories too of Pastor Ruge when they lived in Neenah. I was working PT at the Valley Inn at that time, and saw him often. He is such a fun, lovable guy. We more recently saw Lola and Martin at Lake Shore when we did pet therapy there with the Oshkosh Humane Society. Pastor Rugy, I am so sorry for your loss.
