MARYLOU RUEGER
October 30, 1938 - January 31, 2024
Obituary
Mary Lou Rueger, age 85 of Neenah, passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was born in Blackwell, WI to the late Walter and Wanda (Johns) Weber and was later married to Leonard Rueger. She enjoyed working at Oakridge Gardens for 18 years before retiring upon the birth of her youngest grandchild to help care for her and her sister.
Mary Lou, was a grandma in every sense of the word. She lived and breathed for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an animal lover her entire life and adopted her beloved cat, Camille, in September of 2021 to keep her company during the pandemic. Camille was the perfect cat for her, even if she sometimes complained about how messy Camille could be.
She loved to color, signing and dating every picture she completed, and was thrilled when adult coloring books became popular. Her collection of colored pencils and gel pens would impress anyone. She often gave away her completed works of art as gifts, many of which are framed and hung in the homes of her loved ones. In her free time, she loved to play cards, do puzzles with her friends, play BINGO, and spend time with her family - especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “Granny Goose” or “Grape Grandma”.
Mary Lou was loved by everyone who met her. She will be sadly missed by her daughters: Sherry Bumpus and Jeanne Dalton; her favorite people, her grandchildren: Mandy (Joe) Allen; Stephen E. Bumpus II; Dalynn (Tony) Doehler; Jesse (Jalena) Rueger; Jeromy (Janil) Rueger; Stephanie (Patrick) Fredrickson; and Mariah (Michael) Feagles. She is further survived by her most favorite people, her great-grandchildren: Savanna Bumpus; Dakota Smith; Marley Allen; Tyler Bumpus; Spencer and Devanee Sprotte; Miracle Doehler; Drake Rueger; Ronin Rueger; Lejin Rueger; Sylas and Tieygan Rueger; and Stellan Patrick Fredrickson.
She was preceded in death by her sons: Leonard Rueger II and Kenneth Rueger; siblings: Arlyss “June” (Robert Puckett) Weber; Maxine (Charlie) Below; Juanita “Nita” (Leonard “Red”) Gossen; Gerald “Sonny” (Patricia) Weber; Eugene Weber; and Donna (Jack) Rose; son-n-law, Stephen Bumpus; and the father of her children, Leonard Rueger.
A memorial service for Mary Lou will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 S. Park Rd., Neenah, with Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
