Obituary

Mary Lou Vohen, of Neenah,  87, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, March 7, 2024. She was born on April 21, 1936, in Green Bay, WI, daughter of the late Ruben and Johanna (Bosascki) Valentine.

Mary Lou graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Green Bay. She married John Vohen on May 18, 1957, at St. Philip's Catholic Church  in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They were married for 66 wonderful years.

Mary Lou worked as a comptometrist at Marathon Corp. in Menasha until the birth of their son, Randy. 

Mary Lou was a wonderful baker and gardener. She cultivated a beautiful flower garden and an extensive vegetable garden. She enjoyed spending time with her card club as they were lifelong friends. She spent many wonderful summers as a child at the family cottage on Kelly Lake and shared many more with her friends and family as an adult. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a beloved and doting wife, mother, and grandmother.

Mary Lou was an active member of St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Neenah. She had a strong faith and was a dedicated member. Mary Lou was always willing to pray for anyone in need.

She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members which include her son Randy (Lisa) Vohen; 2 granddaughters Tiffany (Bill) Vogels and Lindsay (Randy) Henderson;  5 great grandchildren, Emily, Jack, Cecilia, Isabella, and Gracie, 2 step granddaughters, Mallory and Morgan, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband John Vohen, her parents Ruben and Johanna Valentine, her parents-in-law, John, and Cecelia Vohen (Art Sinkula),  grandson Jacob Vohen, and many aunts and uncles. 

A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Lou will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 11:00am at ST. MARGARET MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 620 Division St; Neenah. Visitation will begin at 10:00am and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass. Mary Lou will be interred at St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Cemetery. 

Mary Lou's family extends their gratitude to the doctors and nurses from Bristol Hospice and Oak Park Place in Menasha for their excellent care during her final days.
