RICHARD STAFFORD

October 11, 1936 - March 10, 2024

Obituary

Richard B. Stafford, age 87 of Neenah, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Sunday, March 10, 2024. He was born October 11, 1936 to the late William B. and Mary O. (Campbell) Stafford, in Ellsworth, WI. Dick attended UW-River Falls and went on to receive his medical degree from UW-Madison. On September 15, 1962, he married Mary Jane Weiss and the two raised three children together.

Dick worked for over 21 years in the Department of Health and Social Services in the state of Wisconsin as a psychiatrist, and then transitioned into a private practice. He then returned to work for the state, retiring at age 80 from Park View Health Center. He loved to travel with Mary Jane and their friends and was a proud holder of Packers' season tickets.  Dick always enjoyed a good, heated discussion and was an avid reader. He would never turn down the opportunity to cook a gourmet meal for the people he loved, his children and grandchildren. He was a proud Papa, and his grandchildren loved him back just as much as he loved them.

Dick is survived by his daughter, Katy (Jim) Hanson; sister, Pat (Al) Forsythe; daughter-in-law, Sharon Stafford; son-in-law, Pete Faust; and by his sister-in-law, Kathy Nolan. He is further survived by his grandchildren: Nick, Mitchell, Zach, Joe, Jake, Ella, Meghan, and Sean. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Jane; daughter, Peggy Faust; son, Bill Stafford; and by his brother-in-law, Steve Nolan.

A private family celebration will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Dick's name.

Dick's family would like to extend a warm thank you to the nurses and staff of Compassus Hospice for their care and compassion.
