Obituary

Robert “Bob” James Schultz, age 73 passed away on March 29, 2023 with his wife Debby by his side.  Bob was a lifelong resident of Wisconsin, born in Janesville on June 13, 1949.  He spent his early childhood in Fond du Lac and graduated from Neenah High School in 1967.  Bob proudly served for the Army Reserves for 6 years before meeting the love of his life, Debby.  Bob and Debby were married on October 16, 1976.  He and Deb were each other's best friends and biggest supporters.  Debby was his rock the last two years as Bob first battled dementia and then cancer.  He told everyone how well Debby cared for him and how comfortable he was.

Bob was employed with Kimberly-Clark for 30 years, last working as an Air Systems Engineer before starting his own business, Bob “The Painter” Home Improvements in 2004.  Bob was a gifted carpenter and fulfilled his lifelong dream of building his own home for his family in 1989.  Bob knew how to build, install and fix anything that came his way and enjoyed using his many skills to update the house over the years.  Bob was the kind of person who would do anything and everything for you no matter what time of day it was, never expecting anything in return.  He was always telling a joke or trying to get a laugh or smile out of you.

Throughout the years, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.  Bob loved planning family vacations, often counting down the days until departure.  Bob, Debby, Sarah and Andy spent many happy summers camping and boating, especially on the Waupaca Chain O'Lakes.  Bob and his extended family took a once in a lifetime trip to Australia in 2012, a trip filled with memories that he treasured and talked about for the rest of his life.  Bob made the discovery of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida for a family vacation in 1995 and then it became an annual trip until Bob and Debby retired and purchased a condo at Gulf Place Caribbean.  Bob was never happier than sitting on his balcony, soaking up the sun and enjoying the view.

Bob was so proud of his grandkids Connor and Hazel Gage.  He loved watching Connor play soccer and was there when Connor's High School team won the State Championship last Fall.  He also loved watching Hazel performing Irish Dance and just recently saw her perform at the Overture Center in Madison.

Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Debby, his two children, Sarah (Dan) and Andrew (Carrie) and his two grandchildren, Connor and Hazel.  He is further survived by his brothers Dick (Gail) and Tom (Dawn), sister Pat, sisters-in-law Peggy, Mary (Jack), Dawn (Leroy) and Kim (Keith) as well as brothers-in-law Bill (Lori) and Gregg (Debbie) and many nieces and nephews.  Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Karl and Vi, Debby's parents, Kendall and Bernice Mills, sisters Barbara Jean and Sue, nephew Justin and Peggy's husband Billy.

The memorial service for Bob will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, 205 W. Doty Avenue, Neenah. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 pm until the time of the service.

I worked with Bob at KC while I was at Neenah South Plant.  He was our favorite “wind and rain guy”.  He was always great to work with and and just an awesome guy. My condolences to the family during these difficult times.

Dear Debby, Sarah, and Andy, Always enjoyed visiting with Bob at family events. He and Debby were so helpful to me at Hannah and Dustin's Florida wedding. It was so obvious that Bob loved his family more than anything--and that is the best legacy anyone can have. My deepest condolences to all. Geri Kerger
