Obituary

Roy Howard Holz passed away peacefully on Monday, December 5, in Appleton, WI, at age 84. He was born on January 11, 1938, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the second of three brothers to Lawrence C. Holz and Elvira O. Holz. As a young boy Roy, brother Wayne and parents moved to Illinois. In 1945 Roy's parents moved the family to Neenah where they established Holz Sewing Center. Roy attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Neenah High School in 1956. During Roy's youth in 1951 he was afflicted with polio. Through Roy's strong will and great determination he never walked with braces. He served two years Sep 61 thru Sep 63 with the U.S. Army. Upon returning from service Roy joined the family business now entitled Holz Sewing and Fabric Centers with his brother, Wayne, and mother, Elvira. Roy remained a principle owner until the business was sold after nearly 60 years. He was a charter member of the Downtown Neenah Future Business Organization and a member of the Neenah Lions Club. Throughout his years of service in the Neenah Lions Club, Roy received the highest awards given out and only very recently was honored and presented a recent "Certificate of Appreciation" from the current Lions District Governor for his 61 years of service.

Roy married his lifelong partner Priscilla "Jean" Clark on August 28, 1971, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah, WI. and has remained a lifelong member. Throughout his retirement years, right up to the present, Roy repaired and serviced older model sewing machines for people in the area.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Priscilla "Jean" (Clark) Holz; brother, Michael; Sisters-in-law: Diane Holz, Bonnie (Bill) Bostic, Sherrie (Ted) Bombinski; Brothers-in-law: Curtis (Robin) Clark, Garry (Karen) Clark; Nieces: Christine (Tim Ball) Holz, Sherrie (Jason) Dorow, Stacie (Jason) Bates, Tiffanie Clark, Meggan (Jacob) Streim; Nephews: David (Denise) Holz, Jon (Fran) Holz, Brian W (Robin) Holz, Brian T Holz and loving friend Mindy, Benjamin Bombinski, Christopher Clark and Brandon Clark, several great nieces and nephews, plus many cousins.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence C Holz, Elvira O (Marks) Holz; and a brother, Wayne William Holz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 12, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St, Neenah, WI. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. The Neenah Menasha Veterans Honor Guard will perform Military Honors. Internment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah, WI. In lieu of flowers, donations to either Trinity Lutheran Church, Neenah, WI or the Neenah Lions Club.

Roy will be remembered as a kind, caring, loving, and generous person and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace oh faithful servant.

Most heartfelt condolences to Jean and Michael. Have been close Holz family friends for seventy years. Roy will be missed and forever in our hearts. Our families go way back at Trinity church and school. To partially paraphrase the 23rd Psalm with a minor change: "The Lord Is My (Our) Shepherd. We Shall Not Want." God's Blessings, Always. Richard & Lois Breaker. Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Though it’s been almost forty years since working with Roy, Wayne and Elvira Holz the family is in my thoughts regularly. Holz Sewing a new Fabric Center was my first employer after moving to the valley. I enjoyed coming into work and learned so much from all of them. I can only say how sad I am to hear of Roy’s passing and the loss that Jean and her family are now experiencing. Miles keep me from expressing my thoughts in person but my memories are so clear now and I will be thinking of the whole family as you meet to celebrate the life he had. My you find peace and smile at the happy memories that were made during his time on earth. Bless you all!
