Bill was a man of integrity who had a passion for service. He was known for his dedication to the community and his unwavering commitment to his family.

Bill was graduated from Washington Park High School in Racine in 1953.  Following high school, he attended UW-Madison where he earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering.  Bill married a classmate, Kathryn Bisel, three days after graduation on June 24, 1957.  Bill embarked on a diverse thirty-four-year career with Kimberly-Clark beginning in manufacturing at Kimberly mill. Bill enjoyed woodworking, reading, and traveling. He served the community as an Alderman, volunteered for the Boys' and Girls' Brigade and Habitat for Humanity, and was a dedicated Rotarian with the Neenah Club and Fox Cities Morning Club. The world will miss Bill for the good that he did in it. We will miss him because we loved him. Gratefully we have wonderful memories  of activities with both Bill and Kathy. We cherish those. We were blessed by knowing them both. Rest in pease.

Dear Mattes Family- I am sorry for your loss.  He was a fixture around Neenah when I lived there. I always remember him riding his bike around Neenah.  He had an influence on me choosing to pursue chemical engineering at UW.  I loved his story about throwing the hunk of sodium out the window of the engineering building into the snow.  RIP, Mr. Mattes.
