Obituary

Wayne Clement Sigl, 77, beloved husband, dad, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away peacefully on September 29 surrounded by his family at Cherry Meadows Hospice following complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was adopted into a loving home by Clement and Armella Sigl, grew up in the Black Creek area, and graduated from St. Norbert College.

Wayne joined Kimberly-Clark in the research area where he worked on the original Huggies development team and later moved into the legal department where he managed the patent searching team. His curious mind and creativity resulted in him receiving 22 US patents and 17 international patents. He retired after 36 years of service and was able to enjoy time with his family, travel, and volunteer in the community.

He was a generous and unselfish man who volunteered for many years as treasurer for both Fox Valley Lutheran Homes and St. Paul Lutheran Church, which also included serving as church president. His other community volunteer activities included the Neenah Public Library, Friends of the Neenah Library annual book sale, the Neenah Landmarks Commission, and working on the Neenah Community Band parade float.

He was a member of the Neenah Club and looked forward to the weekly meetings, seeing his table mates, and playing cards. His hobbies and interests included historical preservation, gardening, reading, and monitoring the stock market.

Family activities were very important to Wayne and he, Leesa, and Amanda travelled in a pack and enjoyed many trips to Disney, Las Vegas, Hilton Head, Door County, and Minocqua. As the father of a sports girl, Wayne attended Amanda’s T-ball, softball, soccer, volleyball, and basketball games and served as a coach and referee when she was younger.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 35 years, Leesa Erickson; daughters Amanda (Jake) Connell and Heather (Bill) Trost; grandchildren Henry Connell and Maddie Trost; sister Marlene Davis; and niece Kate Davis as well as Leesa’s family.

A Celebration of Life for Wayne will be held on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St., Neenah with Pastor Amy Engebose officiating. Visitation will be begin at 9:00 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations in Wayne’s name be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

His family takes comfort in knowing that he lived fully, loved deeply, and left behind a home and a family that reflects the best of who he was.
