Joyce McClone

Obituary

The family of Joyce Marilyn McClone wishes to share that their mother peacefully passed away

on Sept. 29th, 2025. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, to Alfred and Agnes Goeldner on March

30, 1934. Older siblings, Robert Schoessow, Robert Goeldner, and Virginia Carey, welcomed

her into the family. She lived a full and remarkable 91 years. While with us, Joyce touched the

lives of many family and friends. Many friends considered her “family”.

Joyce attended Lutheran High School, graduating in 1951. She then attended Valparaiso

University as a Nursing student. As a talented and capable lady, she worked for attorneys in

Milwaukee, with a Dental practice (Dr. Jim Bouressa) in Neenah, and in the Neenah Joint

School System for 23 years. She claimed to have had the best bosses in the world, serving as

Secretary to High School principals Richard Carlson and Larry Lewis, retiring in 1997.

She met the love of her life, Edward P. McClone, at a dance at Bear Lake, Manawa, WI.

Although City girl met Country boy, Ed would jokingly say he taught her everything she knew.

They married on Dec. 3, 1955, and celebrated 52 years of marriage until Ed’s passing in 2007.

Joyce and Ed had four children: Cheryl (Jeff) Betlach, Cindy (Steve) Collar, Jeff (Dedee)

McClone, and Dan McClone, grandchildren Chad (Stephy) Betlach, Lindsay Betlach, Nate

(Kendra) Collar, Adam (Bailey) Collar, Sam Collar (fiancée Calli), Jordan McClone, Riley

McClone, Morgan McClone, Mya McClone, and four great-grandchildren.

Joyce expressed her love for others through her passions, including cooking, baking, sewing,

and crafting. She sewed wedding and prom dresses, as well as beautiful quilts. She

participated in numerous craft shows and was always on the hunt for new creative projects.

She could never collect enough recipes, and many enjoyed the results! Whether in celebration

or in support during hard times, she’d be visiting many with a meal, casserole, or baked good.

A funeral service will be held on Fri., Oct. 10, 2025, at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 900 Geiger

St., Neenah, WI, with visitation from 10:00 until the time of service at 11:30, followed by a

luncheon.

Memorials may be sent to the Neenah Tomorrow Fund (link below) if you wish to make a

financial contribution in Joyce’s honor. It is used to fund scholarships, activities, and programs

for students throughout the Neenah School District. https://www.neenah.k12.wi.us/alumni/donate-to-njsd

I'm so sorry that I missed the funeral, because I bet all NHS veterans were there - Joyce was so loved and so respected as the one who really ran the school. When I was a new teacher, Joyce is the one who helped me along whenever I was struggling. I will miss seeing her at craft fairs.

Such a wonderful Great Aunt Joyce! She had an amazing sense of humor, loving spirit, and would add a lot of enjoyment to any room. I had the pleasure of trying one of her "light" desserts the first time we met. And I think that dessert still sits in my stomach many years later. May God's blessings be with the family in this time of loss and may we all share her memory and pass along her warm and loving spirit in all that we do. Love, Jeff and Emily Henderson

My sympathy to all of Joyce’s family. Her sudden departure was a shock. It is a comfort knowing her strong faith will take her into the arms of those who have gone before her.. She was a wonderful friend. The memories made will keep her forever in our hearts!
