GLADYS ZIELINSKI

Gladys E. Zielinski, of Menasha, age 87, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. She was born January 8, 1927, in Kimberly, daughter of the late John and Olga (Jesse) Mitchler. After graduating from Kimberly High School she worked at the Telephone Company in Appleton. On July 1, 1950, she married James Zielinski and they raised their family in Menasha. Jim preceded her in death in 2008 after 58 years of marriage. Gladys loved bowling, reading, camping, family get-togethers at the cottage, watching old movies and playing cards. She could play a mean game of poker and the kids, grandkids and friends learned real fast to never raise to Grandma Z. Gladys and Jim spent a few summers at their mobile home in Pickerel and then 19 memorable years at their cottage on Munger Lake in Lakewood, WI. Gladys is survived by her children: Jim Zielinski, Joan (Kevin) Hurley, Don Cubby (Deb) Zielinski, Tom (Patty) Zielinski, and Jean (Tom) Wollerman; 12 grandchildren: Ben (Michelle) Zielinski, Scott, Steven and Andy Hurley, Sam, Jake, Tess and Nimmy Zielinski, Matt and Zach Zielinski, and Nick and Claire Wollerman; 2 step-grandchildren: Jennie (Matt) McCorstin, Michael (Kelli) Woodstock; 5 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Maya, Sophie, A.J. and Carter Zielinski; and 4 step-great-grandchildren: Beckett and Tucker McCorstin, Austyn and Kynlee Woodstock, . She is further survived by her sisters and brothers: Mildred Francek, Dorothy Micheln, Delores Fisher, Jack (Rosemary) Mitchler, Sharalene (Bud) Rainville, Donna Mitchler, Daniel (Joann) Mitchler, Marilyn (Gerald) Vander Pas and Barbara Mitchler. Gladys was preceded in death by her twin sisters, Carmen and Carmel. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Menashas Westgor Funeral Home. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in her name.
