NILE EMMRICH

Nile C. Emmrich, age 82, passed away on August 29, 2013 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born on July 24, 1931 to Caroline and Paul Emmrich. Nile graduated from Oshkosh High School and the University of Wisconsin. He married Betty Schmidt on October 2, 1954, and they raised four children together. Nile and Betty loved to travel and they took many wonderful trips together. Nile worked for 32 years for the Banta Company, retiring in 1994. He served as church council president at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, United Way Board, Neenah School Board, many committees at the YMCA. Nile was a big Badger and Packer fan, and when ill health prevented him from attending the games, he followed them on TV. He loved spending time at their cottage in Waupaca, and going for boat rides, especially when the grandchildren were there. His greatest joy was being a grandparent. Nile was a Neenah Rotarian for 25 years, serving as President in 1987-1988. Nile was in Naval Reserve from 1948-1960, but never called to active duty. Nile was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Edith Emmrich. He is survived by his wife, Betty, four children: Vicki (Roger) Brower, Knoxville, TN; Steven (Gaydene) Emmrich, Yorba Linda, CA; Terry (Karen) Emmrich, Madison, WI; Thomas (Mary) Emmrich, Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren: Ryan Brower, Krista (Will) Draney), Matthew (Natasha) Emmrich, Karri Emmrich, Alyssa Emmrich, Carly Schram, Jack Emmrich, William Emmrich; one great-grandchild Brayden Emmrich, a sister Carolyn (Donald) Fenske. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 809 S. Commercial St., Neenah, with The Rev. Catherine A.K. Mode officiating. Visitation will be at church from 9:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or the Alzheimers Assoc. The family would like to thank the staff at the Bethel Home " Dementia Unit for their wonderful care of Nile; and to Affinity Hospice for their kindness and compassion. A very special thank you to Katie Kelch for her love and help during a difficult time.
