Janet Maves

Janet L. Maves, of Neenah, age 96, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026.  She was born to Floyd and Mayme Quick on February 25, 1930 in Redford, MI. Janet graduated from Berrien Springs, MI High School and attended Western Michigan University where she met Ken Maves. She graduated in 1952 with a BS in Education and taught until her marriage to Ken on June 11, 1953. Ken was hired by Bergstrom Paper Co. in Neenah and Janet and Ken moved there in 1954.  

Janet was a homemaker and raised three children in her lovely home on the east side of Neenah. She volunteered at Theda Clark Hospital and at the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum in Neenah. Janet and Ken belonged to Ridgeway Country Club where they played many rounds of golf with friends and family. In addition to golf, Janet enjoyed reading, cooking and caring for her family. In 1995 Ken and Janet began spending winters in Florida where they enjoyed the warm weather. They enjoyed traveling and enjoyed trips to Europe, Israel, Costa Rica, Alaska, Hawaii, Western United States and Western Canada. Janet lived in Neenah until 2017 when she moved to Touchmark on West Prospect in Appleton.

 Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken, brothers, Floyd and Dean and sister Jean. Survivors include three children: Karen (Joe) Slimack, Mitch (Sharon) Maves, Mark (Pam Dewey) Maves; and four grandchildren: Jonathan (Jordan) Slimack, Katie (Derek) Woods, Natalie and Jonah Maves

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday April 17, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, WI, 54956. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM with Rev. D.J. Engelbrecht officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for Trinity Lutheran Church and the Alzheimer’s Association.
