Obituary

Thomas C. Voigt, 87 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, December 12, 2025. He was born on August 8th, 1938 in Neenah, to Vern & Mae (Hart) Voigt.

His childhood home was at 716 Harrison Street, across from Washington Park in Neenah, which is now the official address of the new pond.

Thomas worked during his school years for such businesses as Danke Dairy, Twin City News Record, Boys Brigade and Westphal Liquor Store. Thomas graduated from Neenah High School in June of 1956. In September of that same year, he enlisted into the United States Air Force serving on active duty until his retirement in 1978.

Early in his career while stationed in New Hampshire he met and married Diane E. (Marsters) Voigt in 1960, who preceded Thomas in death in 2023.

During his career he served at several installations around the United States and abroad including in France, Netherlands and Vietnam. The majority of his Air Force career was working as a Command & Control specialist both in the Strategic Air Command and Military Airlift Command HQ.

Upon his retirement from the Air Force Thomas returned to Neenah and found employment with International Paper (Thilmany) as a dispatcher where he worked from 1978-1994. He didn’t stay idle for long, taking a job at Krueger’s True Value in late 1994 and retired for the final time in 2001. He was especially proud that he was able to work there alongside his son and his two grandsons.

Thomas enjoyed keeping track of his former military associates as well as his Neenah High School classmates and of course, his family.

Thomas was preceded in death by both his parents Vern and Mae Voigt and his only sibling, a sister Jane (Voigt) Jonscher and her husband Werner Jonscher.

Thomas is survived by his son Gerald (Shari) Voigt, grandsons Michael (Shelly) Voigt and Christopher (Brittany) Voigt and great grandchildren Hannah, Hailey, Clara, Carley, Vincent, Adel, William and Brinley. As well as John Jonscher (nephew), Mary Jo (Jonscher) Feldmann, and Penny (Jonscher) Kipp (nieces).

Tom and I never physically met but we talked on the phone many times while he was a Command and Control Technician at Scott AFB at Hq Mac Command Post and I as a Command and Control Technician at 21st Air Force Command Post at McGuire AFB NJ. Condolences to his family and friends on his passing, but know he performed his duty in the highest traditions of the United States Air Force and I am glad to have served with such a good man.

While Tom and I never met, we had no a “Facebook” friendship and spoke a few times on the phone. I served only one four year tour in the Air Force, but follow Tom in the same position at Whiteman Air Force Base and then again at AFCENT in the Netherlands..
