Obituary
William Joseph Schnettler passed away in Neenah, Wisconsin peacefully on Monday, December 15th, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Bill’s last few years have been immensely challenging living with the disease. We find comfort knowing he is reunited with our Heavenly Father, his son Fred, his parents, his brothers Daniel and Hans, and many other loved ones.
Bill, beloved husband and father, was born on December 8th, 1953 in Sheboygan, WI, to Jerry and Joan (Bersch) Schnettler. The second oldest of four boys, Bill attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Management. His first job was with Illinois Central Railroad in Chicago. Bill met his wife Patti through their dearest friend Margaret and they were married in April of 1979. Bill and Patti moved to Oshkosh where Bill worked for various paper companies like Hoffmaster and Scott Tissue. In 1995, he founded his own company, Contract Converting, which continues to grow. Bill’s business philosophy focused on treating his employees fairly and with respect, which continues to this day. We are forever grateful for every employee keeping Bill’s dream alive and thriving.
Bill's passion in life for cars led him to enjoy many races and shows such as Road America, Sebring, the Indianapolis 500, Barrett-Jackson, and many more. He frequently took pleasure in road trips to Georgia Tech homecomings, and stayed in touch with his Pike Fraternity Brothers. Bill treasured spending time with family, traveling to places like Florida, Yellowstone, and the Caribbean. Over the years he enjoyed entertaining friends and family at the lake house he designed in Minocqua, Wisconsin. Bill hoped the lake house brought joy and fond memories to all who visited and who will continue to visit for years to come. Bill found a deep love for the game of golf at a young age while caddying with his brother Kurt at Brynwood Country Club in Milwaukee. Bill appreciated the opportunity to golf at many prestigious courses both domestic and international. Bill was proud to achieve three holes-in-one throughout his golf career and enjoyed the years he spent at Butte des Morts Country Club and Minocqua Country Club.
Bill and Patti spent 46 wonderful years of marriage together and raised five beautiful children. They found their spiritual home together in the Catholic Church, and cherished their faith. Bill's love, loyalty, generosity, hard work, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all people whose lives he's touched.
Bill is survived by his wife, Patti (Slouber); daughters: Jennifer Schnettler of Neenah, WI; Stephanie (Schnettler) Mullen and her husband, Mike, and their children, Charles Frederick (10), Sara Rose (8), and Theodore Jeffrey (6), of Appleton, WI; Elizabeth Schnettler of Washington, DC; and Melissa (Schnettler) Johnson and her husband, Evan, of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law Abby Moder and her child, Caleigh Schnettler (15), of Neenah, WI; brother Kurt Schnettler and his wife, K’Ann (Mullaney); sisters-in-law Cheryl Schnettler of Lawrence, KS; Mary Schnettler and her husband, Tom Hinds, of Littleton, CO; and Jill Nelson and her husband, Jerry, of Red Wing, MN; and brother-in-law Mark Slouber and his wife, Lynne, of Ephrata, WA.
