Obituary

Richard Lee Kimball (Dick) 78 of Oshkosh passed away on December 29th 2025 at Cherry Meadows in Appleton. He was born on June 21, 1947 in Chicago and later his family moved to Wisconsin Dells where he graduated from Wisconsin Dells High School. Richard furthered his education at the Vocational Technical College in Madison and then went on to the Culinary Institute of America in New York to become a chef. After working at restaurants in different parts of the country he moved to Appleton and became a culinary arts instructor at the Fox Valley Technical College where he continued teaching until his retirement 30 years later. On July 31, 1993, Richard was united in marriage to Carol Mae Schilling of Neenah, and they resided in Oshkosh until his death.

He loved hunting, fishing, and scuba diving, but his main passion was cooking. Richard was known for his clam chowder which he made for October Fest and sold by his scuba club. Richard and Carol loved to travel and took many trips to Mexico, Florida, Hawaii and fishing tripsto Canada. (Known as grandpa Dick) He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother Vera Tofson, his father Merle Kimball, stepfather Otto Tofson, brother Larry Kimball, sisters Bonnie Hughes and Cindy Cormier, nephews David Frodin, Patrick Kimball, Merle Kimball, brother-in-law Ken Frodin, Earl Steffen, Robert Cormier and Arthur Hughes.

Survivors include his loving wife Carol Schilling-Kimball, stepson Phil (Nancy) Schilling of Neenah, grandson Bryan (Margarita) Schilling of Chanhassen, Minnesota, granddaughter Michelle (Jack) Schilling of Milwaukee, great grandson Luca Schilling of Chanhassen, Minnesota, sister Ruth Steffen, sister-in-law Karen Kimball, many nieces and nephews and his dog Jeeves.

There will not be any formal services. Burial will take place in the spring at Fairfield Cemetery in Baraboo.

Richard's family would like to thank Cherry Meadows Hospice for their care and kindness.
