Obituary

Violet “Vi” Delrow, beloved mother, grandmother, and lifelong caregiver, was called to her heavenly home on April 5, 2026, in Neenah, Wisconsin, at the age of 90.

Born on October 27, 1935, in Wausau, Wisconsin, to Fred and Anna (Hort) Pagel, Vi was one of 14 children. She was baptized at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Wausau and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Sugar Bush. A woman of deep and abiding faith, Vi’s strong Christian beliefs guided her throughout her life.

Vi had a remarkable gift for nurturing others. She fostered eight infants throughout her life and worked as an in-home nanny, bringing warmth and care to every family she touched. She cherished her 1968 blue Volkswagen Beetle, tending her flower garden, and watching Baby’s Day Out. A natural conversationalist, she was a beloved regular at her McDonald’s coffee group and an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Neenah.

She was married first to James Card Sr., with whom she had four children: James Card Jr. (Jill) of Appleton, Cheryl Card of Neenah, Cindy Delrow of Oshkosh, and Dennis Delrow (Julie) of Black Creek. She later married Robert Delrow, who lovingly adopted Cindy and Dennis.

Vi is survived by her children Cindy Delrow and Dennis Delrow (Julie), and her grandchildren Brandon Delrow (Melissa), Aleczander Battelle (Caitlyn), Collin, and Gavin Delrow. She is also remembered fondly by the many children she fostered and by extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Anna Pagel; her husbands, James Card Sr. and Robert Delrow; and her siblings Dorothy, Arnold, James, Richard, Robert, June, Mary, Joanne, Florence Ann, Juel, and her infant brothers and sisters.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on April 14, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, where Vi was laid to rest.

Vi’s love and nurturing spirit touched everyone she met. Her joy in simple pleasures—her garden, her Beetle, favorite movies, and morning conversations—will remain a lasting memory of a woman who gave so much of herself to family and friends.
