Obituary

George R. Korth, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. He was born, April 15, 1942, in Neenah, son of the late George F. and Kathryn (Schwerke) Korth.

George graduated from Menasha High School in 1960. He married Karen Hett on September 28, 1963, at St. Mary’s Parish, in Menasha, and celebrated 62 years together.

George was employed with Banta Company for 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Menasha and served 25 years on the Menasha Park and Recreation Board. George was instrumental in getting the Marina built in downtown.

George enjoyed duck hunting, boating, Sturgeon spearing, attending stock car races with family, and jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, Karen; four children: Todd (Brenda) Korth, Tim (Michelle) Korth, Terry (Debbie) Korth, Tricia (Jeff) Korth; seven grandchildren: Kayla Korth, Leah (Jake) Szapa, Amanda (Andy) Mellberg Tyler (Taylor) Korth, Chad (Alysha) Korth, Jason (Alicia) Honick, Bill (Bobbi) Honick; ten great-grandchildren: Aiden Melberg, Bryson Korth, Felix Szapa, Soren Szapa, Scarlet Szapa, Neveah Honick, Eli Honick, Alyssa Honick, Madeline Honick Emilie Honick, and Baby Melberg on the way. Further survived by a brother, Jim (Shirley) Korth; and in-laws: Sally (Tony) Steffen, Dan Hett, Carl Hett, Rebecca Auxier; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at Noon on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 473 Seventh St. Menasha, with Rev. Timothy Skarsten officiating. Visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.

I was on the Parks Board with George for a couple years. We had more than one belly laugh during those meetings. Rest in peace, George.
