Jean Calmes

Jean M. “Jeannie” Calmes, age 77, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born February 19, 1949, in Neenah, daughter of the late Hubert and Dorothy (Wedewart) DuChateau.

 Jeannie graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Menasha in 1967. She then attended City College of Cosmetology and worked as a hairdresser for several years. Jeannie married Michael Calmes on February 19, 1972. After marriage she was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older. She then worked at Wanserski’s, Kohl’s and Hobby Lobby.

 Jeannie enjoyed gardening, crafts, scrapbooking, making greeting cards, and she was an avid reader.

 Mike and Jeannie loved traveling, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

 She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Menasha. Jeannie was a Prayer Warrior, praying every day for her family.

 Survivors include her husband, Mike; three children: Scott (Kerri) Calmes, Amy (Chris) Radke, Jill Calmes; eight grandchildren: Jacy (Zachary) Sommers, Seth Calmes, Kennedi (Garrett) Benton, Kassadi Calmes, Ryan Radke, Justin Radke, Conner Radke and Ava Radke; two great-grandchildren: Ryker Johnson, Stetson Sommers; three sisters: Beth DuChateau, Diane (Pat) Basler, Patty (Mark) St Peter; her best friend, Sue Liebhauser; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 Jeannie was preceded in death by a brother, John Du Chateau.

 A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second St., Menasha, with Fr. Matthew Settle officiating. Visitation at the church from 9:00 AM until the Mass. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary’s Parish in Jeannie’s name.
