Hope Moede

Hope Ann Moede, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Valley VNA on Monday, July 27, 2026. She was born July 16, 1940, daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Beier) Hilgenberg. Eldest of two daughters in a family of ten siblings, Hope was like a second mother to them all.

Hope graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1958, where she excelled in academics and softball. On November 28, 1959, she married Karl E. Moede at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Kaukauna. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years together and were blessed with three daughters.

Hope retired as legal secretary from a local law firm after many years of dedicated service. Hope was a long-time member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Neenah and was a proud leader of their soup kitchen program for many years. She also enjoyed helping in the church’s coffee house for Neenah High School students. Bowling in a couple’s league and later in the women’s league brought her many evenings of fun and friendship. Hope loved living at their lifelong home on Lake Winnebago. She also enjoyed gardening – both vegetables and flowers. Her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and beloved dog, Max, gave her many hours of pleasure.

Hope is survived by daughters: Lori Moede, Connie Pozolinski, and Mickey (David) Weber; grandchildren: Andy (Katie) Pozolinski, Kristopher Weber, Austin (April) Jackson; great-grandchildren: Faith Pozolinski, Violet Pozolinski, Quin Jackson, Owin Jackson; brother Richard (Teri) Hilgenberg; special nieces: Terri Verkuilen, Tracey Marx; brother-in-law Joe Verkuilen, sisters-in-law: Pat Hilgenberg, Charlene Hilgenberg, Sharon Hilgenberg, Mary Mayo, Francine Hilgenberg; as well as other relatives and friends that were all dear to her.

Hope was preceded in death by her loving husband Karl; her parents; two sisters: Marylin Verkuilen, infant sister Donna; brothers: Jack Hilgenberg, Tom Hilgenberg, Bob Hilgenberg, Steve Hilgenberg, Dennis (Annie Waitzman) Hilgenberg, Don (Barbara) Hilgenberg, and Frank Hilgenberg, and great-granddaughter Grace Thull.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1140 Tullar Rd, Neenah, with Rev. Doug Holtz officiating. Visitation at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for Gloria Dei.
