Obituary
James F. Felda passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on August 4, 2026, with his daughter and her mom by his side, at Oak Park Place after a courageous and long battle with dementia.
He was born as the youngest son on July 18, 1942, in Oshkosh, WI to the late Peter and Clarabelle (Kimball) Felda.
James worked as a deputy at the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Dept until his retirement in 1996. After high school, James joined the Air Force and was a very proud veteran who served his country. He was a member of several organizations: Retreads, Fox Valley Riders, Elks, The Masonic Temple of Oshkosh, American Legion posts 38 and 70 as well as the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Oshkosh. He also enjoyed line dancing in Oshkosh and Kewaskum. James’ joy was his motorcycle, a 1996 Honda Gold Wing, with which he traveled across the country. It was named “Jim’s Toy.”
James is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; and her son, Scott (Michelle) Robb and his family; his daughter, Melody (Alan) Bell; and grandchildren: Krystal Bell and Adam (Jaydah) Bell; and by his great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Grace. He is further survived by his former wife, Nancy Felda; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Felda; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert Felda and Thomas Felda; his twin great-granddaughters, Nora Jean and Blakelynn Zadora; and his aunts and uncles.
James’ family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at Oak Park Place in Menasha and Moments Hospice for their kindness, caring, and understanding of his dementia.
Per James’ wishes, there will be no funeral, however a celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Appleton's American Legion, 3220 W. College Ave. from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. with military honors.
