Eric Long

Eric J. Long, age 65, of Menasha, passed away late Friday, October 16, 2026. He was born October 19, 1960, to John and Agnes (Brickl) Long and was a lifelong resident of Menasha.

Eric was a graduate of Menasha High School and was a co- owner of Pro-Paint, a business he took pride in building and maintaining until his early retirement due to chronic health problems. He was well known and respected in the residential construction business. He enjoyed hunting with his chilhood friend Dave. He loved spending time with his son Andrew whether golfing, fishing or hunting. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his childhood friend Randy. At home, Eric enjoyed experimenting with meals in the kitchen and took great pride in caring for his home and yard. His beloved cocker spaniels also held a special place in his heart.

Above all, family was the most important part of Eric’s life. He devoted himself to caring for his wife, Jennifer, and their son, Andrew, finding joy in the everyday moments they shared. His love for his family was evident in the many ways he looked after them and made their home a place of comfort and care.

Eric will be remembered for his determination and strength in the face of adversity. Over the years, he faced numerous difficult health challenges related to Type 1 diabetes and, ultimately, lung cancer. Through it all, he continued to fight, demonstrating a resilience that will remain part of his legacy.

Eric’s life was defined by his love for his family, his pride in his work and home, and his perseverance through life’s challenges. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; and their son, Andrew (Hope) Long; his mother, Agnes Long; sister, Jane (Dennis) Van Daalwyk; and brother, Jim Long. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Mike Rekowski; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Gary) Dorschner and Leonore (Tom) Krysiak; and nieces and nephews: Adam and Mark Van Daalwyk; Mike (Sharra) Rekowski and their family; Lenny and Ray Dorschner; and Matt, Jeff, and David Krysiak; as well as many other extended family members; and by his close friends: Randy Stinski and Dave Cartwright.

Eric was preceded in death by his father, John; and by his in-laws: Leonard Rekowski, Inez Rekowski, and Lu Rekowski.

A memorial service for Eric will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 23, 2026 at Menasha's Westgor Funeral Home with Deacon Don Schultz officiating. A visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

Eric's family would like to extend a warm thank you to Gary Dorschner for the generous donation of his kidney.
