Obituary

Ellen M. Schmidt, age 88, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born on November 4, 1933 to the late Henry and Hilda Flunker. Ellen had a deep passion for flowers and loved spending time in her garden. She enjoyed country music and looked forward to going to any country music festival. Ellen was a very strong person who always put her family first. Raising eight children had many challenges, but she always had a smile on her face and a great attitude. Ellen's true joy came from being close to her children and grandchildren. She treasured the times spent with them and kept a special place in her heart for them. Ellen was blessed with the companionship of Kendall Booth and often talked about their dream trip to Hawaii. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.

Ellen is survived by her children Mark (Geri) Schmidt, Steven (Cheryl) Schmidt, Thomas (Brenda Bodoh) Schmidt, Laurie (Reno) Goodrich, Sheri (Brian) Peterson, Pamela (Ron) Nabbefeld, and Kristy (Mike) Driscoll; grandchildren Jeff Schmidt, Lisa (Jason Enderby) Schmidt, Sarah (Brett) Miller, Tim (Jessica) Schmidt, Rachel (Luke) Biertzer, Josh (Sarah) Schmidt, Jessica (Jesse) DeMoulin, Cortnie (Tyler) Borkowski, Amanda (fiancé Stephen Ajana) Goodrich, Eric (Ashley Clark) Peterson Brandon Peterson, Mariah (Reco) Robinson, Halie Nabbefeld, Kyle Nabbefeld, Hunter Driscoll, Riley Driscoll, and Mack Knapp; 14 great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Jerry Schmidt, loving companion Kendall Booth, siblings Willis Flunker, Verna (Wayne) Fouts, and Lorna Flunker, her parents, as well as her former spouse Clarence Schmidt.

The funeral service for Ellen will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 26, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak Street, Neenah. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service. She will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Hortonville.

Ellen's family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Matthews of Neenah Senior Living for their wonderful care over the years.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Ellen was one special lady. I worked with Ellen and two of her daughters, and went to see Conway Twitty with her, when nobody else liked country music. Ellen was just a nice kind person and will be missed by many. Prayers and Hugs to her family especially Sherry and Lori. Hang on tight to the many memories you have with your mom and keep them in your heart forever. God Bless

Schmidt Family, we are so very sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of Ellen when she babysat me as a child. She was a wonderful person and always had a smile on her face. May the memories of your mom bring you joy and comfort through this difficult time. Sending hugs and prayers to you all.
