DAVID ELMER

David Leslie Elmer, age 73 of Neenah, went home to Heaven after a long battle with cancer and diabetes. He was born December 11, 1939 to Harry and Clara Elmer. He was a graduate of Winneconne High School and served in the Army Reserves. He then married Marlene Thern and worked at Pluswood in Oshkosh, and Eggers in Neenah, until retirement. He was also a member of Martin Luther Church in Oshkosh where he served as an usher. David was a very caring, gentle man who enjoyed traveling in the U.S. and Europe, dancing, and going to community functions. He is survived by his brother, Wally (Barbara Ann) Elmer; sisters: Marianne (Harold) Zastrow; Marge Menacher; and Sally (John) Balistrieri; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Carleton and Marshall Elmer. The funeral service for David will be held at 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 27, 2013 at Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church, 1526 Algoma Blvd., Oshkosh, Rev. Jeff Berg officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to Martin Luther Ev. Lutheran Church, Oshkosh, in Davids name. Davids family would like to extend a warm thank you to all of the nurses and staff of St. Elizabeth as well as the many clinics and rehab centers that showed care and compassion to David throughout his illness.
