LEONA LEMAY

Leona N. LeMay age 90 of Neenah passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Park View Health Center, Oshkosh. She was born July 10, 1924. She was married in 1951 to Alvin LeMay for 50 years. Leona loved to cook for family gatherings. Getting up at 4am on Thanksgiving to put the turkey in the oven so everyone could eat by noon. Every meal had three vegetables and two meats. Her red velvet and German chocolate cake from scratch were a real treat. Leona loved to can and freeze vegetables and fruits all summer long; pickles, corn, strawberries, pears, peaches, tomatoes. At Christmas she made fudge, toffee and ten different kinds of cookies. Leona loved the outdoors and loved to be at the cabin riding the four wheeler. One of her favorite things to do at the cabin was sit with everyone by the fire with a beer and share stories and laugh. Every fall she would make at least two quilts for the family. Taking up the entire living room to tie them. When the grandchildren were young each would spend a week at Grandma and Grandpa's every summer to be treated like a princess. Survivors include her son, Joe (Mary) LeMay; daughters: Jean (Tom) Goyke, Susan (Ken) Schmalz; her grandchildren: Angela Goyke, Robin (Cesar) Rodriguez, Kim Goyke, Danielle Schmalz (fiancé, Dustin Zanin); Great Grandchildren: Selena and Christopher Rodriguez; and four sisters: Ina Rasmussen, Rose Buser, Lucille Asmus, Hilda Van Camp. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and Nels Rasmussen; her husband, Alvin; four brothers: Herb (Josephine) Elmer (Verna), Earl (Olive), Francis; and a sister, Evelyn (William) Reddin. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home. The visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association Greater Wisconsin Chapter. Thank you to the caring staff at Park View for the loving care of Leona over the past years.
