ANNA HOLMES

Anna A. Holmes, of Appleton, passed away peacefully at the age of 101, on Sunday, September 29, 2013. She was born May 9, 1912, in Pipe, WI, daughter of the late Quirin and Anna (Weinreis) Loehr. Anna married Kenneth E.D. Holmes on November 7, 1931 in Waukegan, IL. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1987. Anna retired from Banta Corp. after more than 30 years of employment. She enjoyed hand quilting and going on bus trips. Anna was a member of St. Thomas Church of Menasha and was a member of their St. Margarets Church Guild for many years. She was also a former member of the Neenah/Menasha Masonic Lodge. Survivors include her daughter, Suzanne Holmes; a granddaughter, Kalen (Stephen); a grandson, Kenneth E.; a great-grandson, Ross; and many nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth L. Holmes; and a daughter, Joan M. Holmes. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at St. Thomas Church, 226 Washington St., Menasha, with Fr. Ralph Osborne and Fr. Ed Smith officiating. The visitation will be held at the church from 10: 00 AM until the hour of service. Interment will follow in Rienzi Cemetery in Fond du Lac. In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established in her name.
