Obituary
Janice M. Zettel, of Menasha, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 9, 2012. She was born October 18, 1936, in Langdon, ND, daughter of the late Eugene and Mary Ann (Meyer) Fischer. Janice married Gerald Zettel on April 11, 1955. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1979. Janice was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Menasha and a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Nicolet Ladies (Ladies of the Knights of Columbus). Janice enjoyed bible study, saying the weekly rosary with a group of friends, reading, working in the garden with her hostas and flowers, playing cards with good friends, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her children: Eugene Zettel, Menasha, Paula (Jeff) Ulmen, Darboy, Bonita Quirke, San Diego, CA, Roberta Zettel, Menasha; seven grandchildren: Madeline Zettel, Jared Quirke, Barry Quirke, Ian Quirke, Aaron Quirke, Corey (Tiffany) Quirke, Caleb Pattee; four step-grandchildren: Scott (Mandy) Ulmen, Beth (Chuck) Geiger, Karissa Ulmen, Alex Ulmen; three step-great-grandchildren: Dade Ulmen, Norah and Hope Geiger; two sisters: Iris (Lyle) Lothspeich, Landon, ND, Pat (Ray) Nelson, Sumner, WA; two brothers-in-law: Earl (Aleatha) Zettel, Milwaukee, WI, Raymond Zettel, Milwaukee, WI, and a sister-in-law, Verna Gapp, Seattle, WA; many nieces and nephews; and good friends as numerous as stars in the sky. She is further survived by Laurie (Dorow) Hopkins, her children Molly (Brian) Bons and MacKenzie, Tyler (Ashley) Hopkins, Madeline Zettel, and the wonderful Dorow family. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Neil, Cyril, Alton, and James; two sisters: Phyllis Howatt and Delores Fischer; a brother-in-law, Elmer Zettel; and two sisters-in-law: Mary Ellen Gapp and Marjorie Zettel. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the exemplary care provided by each and every professional associated with: Dr. Bradley Lauderdale, Dr Avi Bar-Lev, Dr. Raman Ashta and her RN Wendy, Oakridge Gardens Nursing Center, and Dr. Mark Riedy and the ICU and Critical Care Team at St. Elizabeth Hospital. The family would also like to thank all her wonderful friends for the many meals they shared, the many outings and events they included her in, and their great care and love for her. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 516 DePere St., Menasha, with Fr. Paul Paider officiating. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Menashas Westgor Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service led by Deacon Rick Dvorak. There will be a visitation at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. A memorial is being established in her name in lieu of flowers. When Tomorrow Starts Without Me When tomorrow starts without me, and Im not there to see; If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldnt cry the way you did today; While thinking of the many things we didnt get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, And each time you think of me, I know youll miss me, too; But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, And said my place was ready in heaven far above, And that Id have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But as I turned to walk away, a tear fell from my eye, For all my life, Id always thought I didnt want to die. I had so much to live for and so much yet to do, It seemed almost impossible that I was leaving you. I thought of all the yesterdays, the good ones and the bad, I thought of all the love we shared and all the fun we had. If I could relive yesterday, I thought, just for a while, Id say good-bye and kiss you and maybe see your smile. But then I fully realized that this could never be, For emptiness and memories would take the place of me. And when I thought of worldly things that Id miss tomorrow, I thought of you, and when I did, my heart was filled with sorrow. But when I walked through heavens gates, I felt so much at home. When God looked down and smiled at me, from His great golden throne, He said, This is eternity and all Ive promised you, Today for life on Earth is past but here it starts anew. I promise no tomorrow, but today will always last, And since each days the same day, theres no longing for the past. But you have been faithful, so trusting and so true, Though there were times you did some things you knew you shouldnt do. But you have been forgiven and now at last youre free. So wont you take my hand and share my life with me? So when tomorrow starts without me, dont think were far apart, For every time you think of me, Im right here in your heart.

For my sweet sweet Aunt Janice, you will always be in our hearts. Though it has been many years since we've actually been together, you were never forgotten and thought about often. I wish you peace and joy that you are in a better place now, no longer suffering and feel comforted that you are with family again in heaven. My dad always loved his sisters dearly and we loved listening to him as he spoke of you. May God bless you and all the kids. We pray for their comfort at this time of sorrow. My heartfelt sympathies go to the family. Especially to bonita quirke and her wonderful sons. The love and hospitality bonnie has always shown me is no doubt a testament of how wonderful her own mother must have been. May god be with you, bonnie, and the rest of your family during these sad times.

Dear Gene and Family, Sorry to learn of the loss of your Mom and Grandmother. She was such a nice lady and we had some wonderful conversations over the years. I know how very proud she was of Maddy.
