MARIE VAUGHTER

Marie E. Vaughter, age 90, formerly of Grove Street, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, July 13, 2011 at the Valley VNA facility. She was born on February 11, 1921 in Oshkosh, a daughter of the late Rudolph and Myrtle (Meeleus) Diestler. On April 10, 1943 she married James David Vaughter, and the union was blessed with two sons, two daughters, and 68 wonderful years. Marie earned her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the Oshkosh Business College and went on to work in the business field, finishing her career in the Payroll Department for Neenah Joint School District from 1960 to 1984. Marie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Neenah, where she sang in the church choir for 45 years, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Brownie Troupe Leader, and a volunteer of many hours at Theda Clark Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, reading, bridge club, camping, bird watching, golfing, bowling, tap dancing, spending time at their cottage on Hemlock Lake, and travelling. Besides wintering in Florida for 14 years, Marie and Jim enjoyed trips to: Ireland, Switzerland, the British Isles, and even cruised through the Panama Canal. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Jim; her sons: Randall, of Rainier, WA, Jeffrey (Kathryn), Whiting, WI; her daughters: Patricia Hade, St. Paul, MN, Pamela (Steven) Fischer, Neenah; grandchildren: Travis (Bonnie) and Dustin Vaughter, Jennifer Fairchild, Lee, Kimberly, and Craig Vaughter, Meghan and Corey Hade, Ryan and Christina Fischer; great grandchildren: Colby, Bernadette, Cooper, and Fisher; her sister, Lorraine Panske, Neenah; nieces: Kathie, Holly, and Mary; and a nephew, Kelly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Tom and Dixie Vaughter. The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with Rev. Paul L. Holte officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
