ROBERT STEINWAY

Robert Paul Steinway, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. He was born on October 5, 1922 in Neenah; son of the late Ruth Mericle and Paul Steinway. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Myra Timmerman, on May 4, 1946 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Menasha; she preceded him in death. Bob was a member of this church since his marriage, serving on the Board of Trustees in many capacities. In his retirement, he loved counting money for the church every Monday and helping with the lawn work on Thursdays. Bob was a proud Veteran of World War II, serving in Ireland and England. He was employed at Eggers Industries (Hardwood Products) for 50 years. He is survived by daughters: Ellen (Gerard) Hendricks, Menasha, Susan (David) Bernd, Waupaca, Barbara (Paul) Perez, Austin, TX, Kathy (Mike) Kieckhoefer, New Richmond; sons: Gary (Carol) Steinway, Sandpoint, ID, Greg Steinway, Appleton; 8 grandchildren: Tina (Greg) Schroeder, Neenah, Christie (Henry) Schultz, Neenah, Becky Steinway, Appleton, Katie Bernd, Conyers, GA, Drew Bernd, Starkville, MS, Ashley and Jennifer Kieckhoefer, New Richmond, Stephanie and Emily Perez, Austin, TX; 7 great-grandchildren: Bradley, Grayson and Ella Schroeder, Kaitlyn and Lilly Mayer, Nicholas Schultz, and Jackson Steinway. He was preceded in death by a brother Richard Steinway. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at 5:00 PM at Congregational United Church of Christ of Neenah/Menasha with the Reverend Lynne Spencer-Smith officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until the hour of service. Interment will take place on Thursday morning, September 10, 2009 at 9:00 AM at Neenahs Oak Hill Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be conducted. The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and CNAs at Cherry Meadows for the compassionate care they gave to our Dad.
