DOLORES BECKER

Dolores Laverne Becker, age 83 of Neenah passed away early Saturday, January 28, 2012 after a 12 year, inspirational and courageous challenge with ovarian cancer. She was born September 14, 1928 to the late Urban and Clara (Lemberger) Zipperer. On November 19, 1955, she married the love of her life, Richard Becker, who preceded her in death in 1998. Laverne was a 1947 graduate of Valders High School. She then moved to Milwaukee where she met Dick Becker, and attended the Milwaukee School of Business. They moved to Neenah in 1961, where they raised their four children. Laverne lived life to the fullest. Her children and grand-children meant everything to her. As a huge sports fan, she never missed a grandchilds event. She could often be found calling traveling at any basketball game. She enjoyed watching every sport, from Little League, to High School, to College, to the Packers and the Brewers. In her working years, Laverne was employed at a brokerage office, Wisconsin Fund. After retirement she became a Wal-Mart greeter, having worked at the Neenah location since its opening day. She was a very faithful and strong woman and was a true inspiration to others. She and her husband were life-long volunteers and members at St. Gabriels Catholic Church, where they met many of their life-long friends. Surviving Laverne are her four children: Tom (Candy) Becker; Brian (Molly) Becker; David (Linda) Becker; and Kathy Finch; her grandchildren: Kurt, Paul, and Reed Becker; Allison, Erik, Emily, and Alec Becker; and Breanna Finch. She is further survived by her siblings: Marie Rosinsky and Jule (Janice) Zipperer; as well as her sisters-in-law: MaryAnn Zipperer; Sharon (Charles) Timesch; and Beverly (Don) Krieser. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her brother, Victor Zipperer; sister, Bernadine (Rueben) Schiesl; brother-in-law, Paul Rosinsky; and sisters-in-law, Betty (Kenny) Glish, and Pat (Norman) Kehres. A Funeral Mass for Laverne will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at 12:30 P.M. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Neenah, Fr. Larry Seidl officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Interment will be in St. Margaret Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Lavernes name. Lavernes family would like to extend a warm thank you to all of her friends and neighbors for visiting her through all the years, as well as Geri Care Cabins and ThedaCare at Home Hospice for their care and compassion.
