LEATRICE SCHMELING

Schmeling, Leatrice M. Lee Leatrice M. Schmeling, 79, of Oshkosh, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Park View Health Center. Lee was born August 5, 1932, in Sherwood, the daughter of Otto and Elsie (Mielke) Schmeling. After graduation, Lee had very interesting jobs throughout her life-she was a cab driver, and worked for the George Banta Company over 44 years as a bindery worker, as a union steward, and ultimately, union president for Local 77-P. Lee was influential in getting pensions for her co-workers, and started the Neenah-Menasha Labor Credit Union. Survivors include her sisters: Peggy (Carl) Kennedy, Audrey (Jack) Grawien, and Vicky (Paul) Blaney; a brother-in-law, Richard Genett; her nieces, Lisa (Russell) Burr, and Lorri (John) Venus; nephews: Bart (Melissa) Kennedy, Nathan (Angela) Kennedy, Yancy (Lynn) Grawien, Shannon (Susan) Grawien, and Richie (Denise) Genett. She is also survived by grandnieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Elsie; her sister, Sue Genett; and a nephew, Jeffrey Genett. A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012, from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Lucky Dogz, 157 So. Green Bay Rd., Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in her name. Lee resided at Park View Health Center for the last 12 years. The family would like to say thank you for the wonderful care and love given to Lee and her family there. And also a sincere thank you to our BEST friends of Lees- Joyce Kettner and Frances Palmer.
