IRENE LUOMA

Irene M. Luoma, of Neenah, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Park View Health Center in Oshkosh. She was born on April 10, 1920 in Hewitt, WI; daughter of the late Emil and Emma (Korth) Ohm. Irene attended grade school at Middle Creek Country School in Marshfield. She was employed by the Hamilton Roddis family for several years, then by the Mary Roddis Connor family in Wakefield, MI. Irene married Leonard Luoma in 1940. She was very active in her church, Peace Luther Church, Neenah and did take care of several children in her many years. Irene was very interested in baseball and enjoyed gardening, traveling and sewing. Irene is survived by her husband, Leonard, Neenah; a daughter, Alyce Marie (Jim) Thurber, Flomaton, AL; two foster daughters: Brenda Heyn, Menasha, Carrie Heyn, Neenah; a grandson, Max Anthony Figlinski, Menasha; a niece, Dorothy Peck and a nephew, David Peck who both live in Minneapolis; as well as many other cousins, relatives and friends who reside in Neenah, Appleton, Hilbert, Marshfield, Milwaukee, Wisconsin Rapids, Minnesota and Montana. She was preceded in death by her sister, Arlyn Peck. The funeral service for Irene will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, 1228 S. Park Ave., Neenah, with the Rev. Ricky Schroeder officiating. The visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Entombment will be in Shrine of Heaven Mausoleum, Neenah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and nurses at Park View Health Care Center for their exceptional care and attention they gave to Irene.
