EDNA DEMOREST

Edna DeMorest, 88, of Neenah, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Bridgewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Neenah. Edna was born January 22, 1925, in Kewanee, IL, the daughter of the late Esper and Mary (Saad) Haddad. She was united in marriage to Hugh F. DeMorest, MD on August 17, 1952, in Kewanee; he preceded her in death in 2002. Edna was a member of the Kings Daughters for ten years and served on the board of Family Services for a year. She loved to play golf and was a member of the Ridgeway Country Club for many years. Edna volunteered with the Auxiliary at Theda Clark Medical Center. She enjoyed gourmet cooking and ethnic bread making, as well as entertaining at her home. Edna traveled to Las Vegas and Gulfport, MS, where she liked to go to the casinos. For many years she played bridge with her friends in a bridge group. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Spending precious time with her granddaughters was important to her. Survivors include her daughter, Jeanne (Ken) Koehn, Fort Collins, CO; her son, Kevin DeMorest, Neenah; three granddaughters: Nicole Koehn and Sarah Koehn, of Fort Collins, and Emily DeMorest, Dayton, OH; and her sister, Olga (Larry) Larson, Kewanee, IL. She was preceded in death by a son, David, and two sisters, Alice Haddad and Budelia Stivers. The memorial service for Edna will be Tuesday, June 4, 2013, 3:00 p.m.. at Neenahs Westgor Funeral Home with Fr. Bill Johnston officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Ednas honor is being established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bridgewood (Vallhaven) nurses,CNAs, and staff; to Hospice Advantage, especially Laurie and Joann; and to Gloria and Dawn Marie, who helped care for her at home " your wonderful care and compassion given to Edna will always be remembered.
